…bolzano, italy

Assumption of Our Lady Cathedral is Bolzano’s famous and magnificent landmark.  The cathedral’s architecture is symbolic of the northern-Gothic and southern-Romanesque influences in Bolzano.  The gargoyles that surround the cathedral is reminiscent of Notre Dame in Paris, clearly an indicative of the Gothic influence from the north.

Walther Square was built in 1808 and roughly eighty years later a statue of Walther von der Vogelweide was erected in 1889.

Due to its geographic locality, bordering Germany in the north, Bolzano’s main languages spoken are Italian and German.
